Music Monday (on a Thursday)! Dave Matthews – Samurai Cop

Sorry, not sorry guys and gals, but you are getting a double dose of Dave Matthews Band from this girl. Today the single off of DMB upcoming album, Come Tomorrow, was released. I heard Samurai Cop last year during a show I attended while eight months pregnant with my son. What has been done in the studio with it, as always, is so impressive. Hearing it again now envokes so much emotion in me and floods my brain with memories from the delivery room to the early days as a new mother. These lyrics are so very, very heartfelt and I seriously cannot wait to hear the rest of this album.

P.S. Thanks Berit for checking the calendar for me–haha!

The day you came
Naked, afraid
Young mother screams and pushes you
The day you came

Oh joy begin
Weak little thing
More precious there’ll be nothing, no
Oh joy begin

Let’s not forget these early days
Remember we begin the same
We lose our way in fear and pain
Oh joy begin

First just one step
One word and then
With laughter sing, oh life begin
First just one step

Let’s not forget these early days
Remembering we began the same
We lose our way in fear and pain
Oh joy begin

Innocent kiss
Black magic bliss
First broken bone
Sudden and swift
Oh innocence

Let’s not forget these early days
Remember we begin the same
We lose our way in fear and pain
Oh joy begin
Oh joy begin
